Packaging Material Guidelines
- Corrugated boxes: Single wall for items under 9 kg; double wall for 9-18 kg; triple wall for over 18 kg or fragile items
- Bubble wrap: Use small bubble (6mm) for light items, large bubble (10-25mm) for heavier or more fragile items
- Void fill: Use packing paper, foam peanuts, or air pillows to fill all empty space — prevents movement during transit
- Tape: 2-inch (50mm) standard packing tape for most boxes; reinforced gummed tape for heavy or valuable shipments
- Box sizing: Leave 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) of cushioning space on all sides of the item
Reducing Packaging Costs
- Buy boxes in bulk — savings of 30-50% vs individual purchases
- Use right-sized boxes to avoid dimensional weight surcharges
- Recycle packing materials when possible (void fill, bubble wrap)
- Consider poly mailers for non-fragile soft goods — cheaper and lighter than boxes
